Located in the northernmost part of Oman , and guarding the southern side of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, the Musandam Peninsula is dubbed the ‘Norway of Arabia’ for its beautiful khors (rocky inlets), small villages and dramatic, mountain-hugging roads. This beautiful peninsula with its cultural eccentricities is well worth a visit if you’re on an extended tour of Oman. Musandam is also a growing commercial region with good land, air and sea connections and is contributing to the ambitious tourism strategy of the country. The area also has great strategic importance owing to its proximity to the Strait of Hormuz. The governorate of Musandam consists of four provinces: Khasab, Bukha, Diba, and Madha. Khasab is the regional centre and is located 570 kilometres from Muscat.
