Musandam Power is the owner of the first independent power plant in the Musandam region of the Sultanate of Oman. With a contracted power capacity of 120 MW, the company caters to the current and near-term demand of the region, and is a proud contributor to its development aspirations.
 

History

Power demand in Musandam was historically was met through small diesel powered plants operated by RAECO (Rural Areas Electricity Company). In 2011, OPWP appointed advisors to conduct a feasibility study to develop a new gas-fired power plant. OQ in JV with LGI as Project Founders incorporated the Company on 15 March 2015 for the purpose of building and operating the Plant.

The Plant has been established under a BOO scheme, which enables it to be operated beyond the PPA term of 15 years by extending the PPA (if agreed to by OPWP).
